The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced that Dubai is the preferred venue for the Asia Cup, adopting a hybrid formula. The decision is primarily driven by the potential gate revenue, as the PCB believes that venues like Colombo or any other location cannot match the financial returns of Dubai. The Asian Cricket Council will be responsible for compensating any loss of gate revenue incurred due to selecting a venue other than Dubai.
Sources indicate that the PCB is likely to approve the reintroduced hybrid formula, and with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh already in favor, a decision is expected soon. Although the PCB has not received official notification about the ACC meeting, they are confident that Pakistan's preference will be given due consideration within the hybrid formula.
Under the hybrid formula, Pakistan will host its match against Nepal in their own country, while Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka will compete against each other in three matches.
In the tournament, India's group matches, the top-ranking teams, and the final will take place at the venue chosen through the hybrid formula.
